The Ministry of Tourism (MoT) has come up with a very innovative plan to promote travel and tourism within India. They have launched a campaign called Dekho Apna Desh, where the MoT will reward those who travel to 15 Indian destinations within a year. By Kumar Shree
What are the new tourism schemes in India?
Additionally, there are schemes such PRASHAD(Dekho Apna Desh People’s Choice 2024), Swadesh Darshan, SAATHI, Dekho Apna Desh and NIDHI, that are supported by the Government of India.
Speaking at the National Tourism Conference in Konark, Union Tourism Minister Prahalad Patel Singh said, “The tourism ministry will fund the travel expenses of tourists who visit 15 destinations in the country in a year and submit the photos on our website.”
What is the Desh Darshan scheme?
Swadesh Darshan Scheme is a Central Sector scheme launched by the Ministry of Tourism and Culture, Government of India in 2014-15. This focuses on the integrated development of theme-based tourism circuits in India . The SDS scheme aims to promote, develop, and harness the potential of the tourism sector in India.

What Is The ‘Dekho Apna Desh’ scheme(Dekho Apna Desh People’s Choice 2024)? The scheme aims to increase domestic tourism of India and under this plan, around 50 destinations in the country will be developed and promoted to attract tourists. Under the scheme, travellers will get to enjoy several benefits in hotel rates, travel and entrance fees.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched 52 tourism projects worth over Rs 1400 crore under the Swadesh Darshan and PRASHAD schemes. The projects aim to develop tourism infrastructure and promote pilgrimage and heritage sites across India. The launch events were carried out at all 52 destinations simultaneously. Additionally, the PM launched campaigns like Chalo India Global Diaspora Campaign and Dekho Apna Desh People’s Choice 2024 to promote tourism.
