According to a New York Times report, Singham’s network has funded Delhi-based news website Newsclick. The report said that Newsclick was given funding of Rs 38 crore. It has been claimed that Singham works for the Chinese Communist Party. According to the information, he lives in Shanghai, China.

Newsclick says it has not taken any funds from Neville Roy Singham. All funding received by Newsclick has been done through proper banking channels.

Prabir Purkayastha, editor of the NewsClick website, was arrested under an anti-terrorism law on Tuesday over allegations of receiving foreign money. The homes of 44 other journalists connected to NewsClick were raided.
