The first match of the three-match T20 series was played in Mohali. India has taken a 1-0 lead by defeating Afghanistan by 6 wickets.
In reply to Afghanistan’s target of 159 runs, India won in 17.3 overs after losing four wickets. Shivam Dubey scored unbeaten 60 runs. Rinku Singh scored 19 not out. Jitesh Sharma played an inning of 31 runs.
India had a very bad start. Rohit Sharma was run out on the second ball of the first over. Shubhman Gill contributed 23 runs. Tilak Verma played a quick inning of 26 runs. Mujeeb-ur-Rahman of Afghanistan got two wickets.
Rohit Sharma won the toss and decided to bowl first. Afghanistan has given India a target of 159 runs in the first T20 match. Mohammad Nabi faced 27 balls and scored 42 runs. During this period, Nabi’s strike rate was 155. From India’s side, Mukesh and Akshar took two wickets each and Shiv Dubey got one success.
Captain Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli have returned to the Indian T20 team for this series, but Virat Kohli is not available for the first T20 match. Due to personal reasons, Virat Kohli will not play the first T20 match to be played against Afghanistan.
