South Africa in the final of T20 World Cup for the first time | Afghanistan lost by 9 wickets

T20 World Cup: In the first semi-final of T20 WORLD CUP 2024(SA vs AFG), South Africa defeated Afghanistan by 9 wickets and confirmed their place in the final. For the first time, South Africa entered the final by removing the stain of chokers. The decision to bat first after winning the toss proved costly for Afghanistan.

The entire Afghan team was all out for 56 runs in 11.5 overs. In response, South Africa easily won the match by scoring 60 runs for the loss of 1 wicket in 8.5 overs. Reeza Hendricks played an unbeaten innings of 29 and Aiden Markram an unbeaten innings of 23 runs. De Kock was out after scoring just 5 runs. Now South Africa will face the winner of the semi-final match between India and England in the final.

10 Batsmen could not cross the double-digit mark

Afghanistan’s team collapsed for just 56 runs in 11.5 overs. Rahmanullah Gurbaz (0), Ibrahim Zadran (2), Gulbadin Naib (9), Mohammad Nabi (0), Nangyal Kharoti (2), Azmatullah Umarzai (10), Karim Janat (8), Noor Ahmed (0), Rashid Khan (8) and Naveen Ul Haq (2) all got out. Marco Jansen and Tabrez Shamsi took 3-3 wickets for South Africa. Apart from this, Kagiso Rabada and Anrich Nortje took 2-2 wickets. Shamshi took 3 wickets for 6 runs in 1.5 overs.

The second team to reach the final will be decided at 8 pm. When India and England teams will face each other in Providence Stadium of Guyana. Afghanistan batted first after winning the toss in Brian Lara Stadium of Trinidad and got all out on 56 runs. South Africa achieved this target by losing 1 wicket.

Played only 11.5 overs in 20 overs. South Africa started playing World Cup in 1992 and reached the final after 32 years. It reached the semi-final in the very first World Cup i.e. 1992.
