Asia Cup 2023 Could be Cancelled: The Asia Cup cricket tournament to be held in Pakistan in September this year may be canceled. This claim has been made by the Pakistani website ‘Pakistan Cricket’ quoting the Pakistan Cricket Board. The report also claimed that the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) may organize a five-nation tournament after the cancellation of the Asia Cup. Except for Pakistan, all other teams in Asia can participate in this.
Now know, what is the reason for the Controversy, Asia Cup 2023
In the ICC calendar, the Asia Cup to be held in 2023 has been given to Pakistan. BCCI had made it clear as soon as the calendar was released that the Indian team would not go to Pakistan to play. The BCCI had asked for the Asia Cup to be held at a neutral venue, but the Pakistan Cricket Board did not agree, as it is expecting the Asia Cup only to improve its deteriorating financial condition.
However, Pakistan has also proposed to conduct the tournament on a hybrid model. Accordingly, India’s matches will be moved out and the rest of the tournament will be held in Pakistan. If India reaches the final, the final will also be outside Pakistan.

There is no clear statement from BCCI on this. In between, it was reported that the cricket boards of Bangladesh and Sri Lanka have opposed the hybrid model. They say that this will increase the cost of the tournament and reduce their share of the revenue.
Jai Shah had recently said that no decision has been taken on the Asia Cup yet.
Recently, BCCI Secretary and Asia Cricket Council President Jay Shah said that no decision has been taken on PCB’s proposal to hold Team India’s matches in the Asia Cup in another country instead of Pakistan. Their feedback is also being taken from other countries. The next decision will be taken on the basis of that feedback only.
15 matches between India and Pakistan in 10 years
The last bilateral series between the two countries took place in January 2013 in India. Pakistan played 3 ODIs and 2 T20s on this tour. After this, both countries clashed in the multination tournament itself. A total of 15 matches of all formats could be held between the two. Of these, 8 ODIs and 7 T20s were played. In these, India won 11 and Pakistan won 4.
Pakistan has come to play T20 World Cup in 2016
Team India does not go to Pakistan for political reasons, but in the last 10 years, the Pakistan team has come to India to play in the 2016 T20 World Cup. Due to a lack of bilateral series, no Test matches were played between the two after 2007.
