Kolkata’s openers decided the fate of the match

RCB might have hoped that just as its batsmen struggled, Kolkata’s batsmen would also do the same but it did not happen. In fact, its openers, Sunil Narine (47 runs, 22 balls) and Phil Salt (30 runs, 20 balls) had decided the fate of the match in the powerplay itself. Both had scored 50 runs in the fourth over and 85 runs till the end of the powerplay.

After this, both were out but Venkatesh Iyer came back and scored 50 runs, ending all hopes of RCB’s comeback. Apart from him, captain Shreyas Iyer (39 runs not out) also lasted till the end and ended the match in the 17th over. Kolkata has its second consecutive win this season, while Bengaluru has its second defeat in 3 matches.
