India-New Zealand ODI Series: The senior men’s selection committee on Saturday selected the Indian team for the upcoming three-match ODI series against New Zealand. The series will begin on January 11th at the BCA Stadium in Vadodara. Shreyas Iyer has returned to the team after recovering from injury.
Team India ODI Squad Announced vs New Zealand
The Indian cricket team has been officially announced for the upcoming ODI series against New Zealand. Shubman Gill has been appointed as the captain(India-New Zealand ODI Series), while Shreyas Iyer has been named the vice-captain. However, Iyer’s inclusion in the squad will depend on his fitness status.
Along with Gill and Iyer, Rishabh Pant and Mohammed Siraj have also been included in the ODI squad. On the other hand, Ishan Kishan has failed to secure a place in the ODI team, and Mohammed Shami has not been selected for the series.
India-New Zealand ODI Series
Earlier, the Indian selectors had announced Team India for the T20 World Cup 2026, followed by the squad selection for the T20 series against New Zealand(India-New Zealand ODI Series). The ODI squad announcement now completes India’s team selection for the New Zealand tour.
Yashasvi Jaiswal Named Backup Opener
Yashasvi Jaiswal has been named as the backup opener for the ODI series. Earlier, in the absence of Shubman Gill, Jaiswal opened the innings alongside Rohit Sharma against South Africa. He impressed with a brilliant unbeaten 116-run knock in the third ODI of that series.
Mohammed Siraj Returns, Shami Left Out
Fast bowler Mohammed Siraj has made his return to the Indian squad. Alongside him, Arshdeep Singh, Prasidh Krishna, and Harshit Rana(India-New Zealand ODI Series) will serve as the other frontline pace bowlers.
Meanwhile, Nitish Kumar Reddy has been included as a pace-bowling all-rounder in place of Hardik Pandya, who has been rested along with Jasprit Bumrah. Once again, Mohammed Shami has not been included in the squad.
India to Play 3 ODIs from January 11 to 18
India and New Zealand will contest a three-match ODI series from January 11 to January 18. The matches will be played in Vadodara, Rajkot, and Indore.

The Indian ODI squad for the series may be officially released on January 3 or 4, while the T20I squad has already been announced by the BCCI. The five-match T20 series will be played from January 21 to January 31.
