Punjab Kings, who came to bat first after losing the toss, had a bad start as always. Opener and captain Shikhar Dhawan became the victim of Ishant Sharma after scoring just 7 runs. Soon after this, Ishant Sharma also bowled out Liam Livingstone.

Chasing the target of 168 runs, Delhi Capitals got off to a better start. David Warner and Phil Salt added 69 runs in 6 overs for the first wicket. On one hand, Phil Salt played an inning of 21 runs in 17 balls with the help of 3 fours, while the innings of captain David Warner accelerated the run rate of Delhi Capitals(DC VS PBKS).
