Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee also attended the inauguration of the 28th edition of the Kolkata International Film Festival along with all the film stars. CM Mamta, who reached the festival, has demanded to give Bharat Ratna to Amitabh Bachchan.
Mamta said- Bengal will demand to give Bharat Ratna to Amitabh for his long time contribution to Indian cinema. Amitabh Bachchan also spoke in the program. He said that even now questions are being raised on civil liberties and freedom of expression.

Chief Minister Mamta Banerjee also targeted BJP in gestures. Mamta said- Bengal fights for humanity, unity, diversity and integration. Bengal neither bows its head nor begs. Mahesh Bhatt said – cannot reject western thought
Mahesh Bhatt also spoke in the program. He said- In today’s political environment, the children of India try to reject western ideas. This is not our mission. These words of Tagore should resonate in the hearts of all Indians that India is meant to unite all castes.

This film was selected for the inauguration
The opening film of the 28th Kolkata Film Festival is Hrishikesh Mukherjee’s Abhimaan. During this, West Bengal CM Mamta Banerjee and cricket legend Sourav Ganguly were also seen. Please tell me that the film festival will run till 22 December. 183 films from 42 countries have been selected for the festival.
A total of 1078 films from 57 countries applied for the festival. Around 215 shows will be screened at 10 venues in Kolkata during this period. An exhibition on Satyajit Ray, talk shows and discussions on films, and workshops will also be held during the festival.
